Another successful stage achieved for the towns Neighbourhood Development Plan

Stratford-upon-Avon Neighbourhood Development Plan has successfully passed into the next stage of the process. The Plan’s Development and Steering Group, who have been working on the Plan, are delighted to announce that the Examiner has now issued her report and has confirmed that it can proceed to a referendum having met the legal tests.

“I find the Stratford-upon-Avon Neighbourhood Plan is extensive but straightforward, well written and generally well explained and expressed.” said, Louise Brooke-Smith, Independent Examiner.

As with all Examiners reports there are some suggested modifications and points of clarification which need to be addressed prior to the finalisation of the Referendum Version of the Plan.

The Stratford-upon-Avon Neighbourhood Development Plan, which is one of the largest in the country, represents a significant change from the traditional approach to planning. The aim of Stratford’s Plan is to give local people an opportunity to influence directly what goes on in the area and so allow the community to help shape the development of the place in which they live, ensuring change brings local benefit.

Stratford’s Mayor Victoria Alcock said, "I am delighted that it has now been passed by the Examiner. It reflects and represents the very hard work and community engagement that has been undertaken by our team of volunteers who care passionately about our town and the surrounding villages".

The Neighbourhood Development Plan is facilitated by Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council. To find our more about the Stratford-upon-Avon Neighbourhood Development Plan visit www.stratford-tc.gov.uk
