Neighbourhood Plan Update February 2015

Thu 1st January

ï»¿The draft Stratford-upon-Avon Neighbourhood Development Plan is now at an advanced stage and we are grateful for the large number suggestions given to us by residents and by people working in the town. We have taken these suggestions into account in preparing the draft plan.

Although the Neighbourhood Development Plan is being put together by residents, it will be subject to formal examination and the examiner will check that it does not conflict with Stratford District Council’s Core Strategy which is currently going through its own examination process.

Stratford District Council submitted its Core Strategy for examination in September 2014.  Hearing sessions took place between 6th and 29th January and the inspector is due to issue an interim report in March.  The Neighbourhood Development Plan Steering Group and Management Team have been following progress of the Core Strategy examination and will consider the impact of the inspector’s interim report on the draft Neighbourhood Development Plan before issuing it for public consultation.

As you will appreciate, there is a legal process that has to be followed before the Neighbourhood Development Plan can be adopted.  The next stage will be public consultation.  This will be followed by the formal examination and then a referendum.  We shall keep you informed via this website as the Neighbourhood Development Plan progresses through the adoption process.
